Should schools screen for ACEs?

Inspired by Nadine Burke Harris’ book, “The Deepest Well”, I wondered out loud about the ethics behind screening for ACEs in schools.  Below is the outcome of a thought-provoking twitter discussion.

My summary is that if you do not have enough support in place to meet the needs arising from the disclosure of such information, you should not do this.  In addition, without someone knowing for absolute certain that ALL the staff in the school are truly trauma-informed and live it within their bones, ACE scores can become reduced to a number and provision decided upon how ‘high’ someone’s score is, detracting from the impact on any individual and the actual needs they have.
